For most UAE homes and offices, the UniFi U7 Pro is the right Wi-Fi 7 access point: it adds the 6 GHz band, handles a busy floor comfortably and is priced in the middle of the range. Pick the U7 Lite for apartments and small offices on a budget, the U7 Pro Max for crowded spaces like meeting rooms, restaurants and classrooms, and the outdoor or in-wall models for gardens, pools and hotel rooms. How to choose in three questions
1. How many people use the space at once?
Wi-Fi slows down when many devices compete, not just when signal is weak. A family floor or a 10-person office is comfortable on a U7 Pro. A meeting room, restaurant, school classroom or majlis that fills up for events needs the extra streams of the U7 Pro Max. A small apartment or shop is well served by the U7 Lite.
2. Do you want the 6 GHz band?
The U7 Pro, Pro Max, Pro XG, Pro Wall and Pro Outdoor add 6 GHz, a cleaner band with far less interference from neighbours, which matters in dense UAE apartment towers. The U7 Lite, U7 LR and U7 Outdoor work on 2.4 and 5 GHz, which is still a big step up for most homes. 6 GHz only helps devices that support it, such as recent flagship phones and laptops.
3. What is the cabling and switch situation?
Every UniFi access point is powered over the Ethernet cable (PoE), and the Pro models typically need PoE+. Wi-Fi 7 access points also use 2.5 GbE or 10 GbE uplinks, so to get the full speed you need a switch with matching multi-gig ports. Check the PoE requirement on each product page before you buy, and read our PoE switch selection guide.
Typical UAE setups
- Two-bedroom apartment: one U7 Lite or U7 Pro on the ceiling of the central hallway.
- Three-floor villa: one U7 Pro per floor, plus a U7 Outdoor or U7 Mesh for the garden, pool or majlis. Our villa Wi-Fi guide shows the layout.
- Office of 20 to 40 people: U7 Pro in open areas, a U7 Pro Max in the main meeting room, a PoE+ multi-gig switch and a UniFi gateway.
- Hotel or serviced apartments: U7 In-Wall in rooms, U7 Pro Max in lobbies and ballrooms, U7 Pro Outdoor on terraces. See UniFi hotel Wi-Fi in the UAE.
- Warehouse: U7 LR for wide coverage between racks.
Frequently asked questions
Which UniFi Wi-Fi 7 access point should I buy?
For most homes and offices, the U7 Pro. Choose the U7 Lite for small spaces and tighter budgets, the U7 Pro Max for crowded rooms, and the U7 Outdoor, U7 Mesh or U7 Pro Outdoor for outdoor areas.
Do UniFi access points need a controller?
Yes. UniFi access points are managed by the UniFi Network application, which runs on a UniFi gateway such as the Dream Router 7, Cloud Gateway or Dream Machine, or on your own server. There are no licence fees.
Do I need a new switch for Wi-Fi 7?
You need PoE to power the access points, and PoE+ for most Pro models. To use the full speed of the 2.5 GbE or 10 GbE uplinks you also need a multi-gig switch. Older gigabit PoE switches still work but limit the uplink to 1 Gbps.
Is Wi-Fi 7 worth it in the UAE?
It is worth it for new installations and for busy spaces, especially in apartment towers where the 6 GHz band avoids neighbour interference. For homes with older devices, a well-placed Wi-Fi 6 network is still excellent.
How many access points does a villa need?
Usually one per floor plus one for outdoor areas or an annex, because UAE concrete and block walls stop Wi-Fi quickly. Large floors may need two.
